Anime reviews

Here's reviews of animes I've been watching the past days!

Kuroshitsuji / II

Kuroshitsuji revolves around Ciel Phantomhive, the 12 year old orphan earl. Ciel Phantomhive lives in his luxurious mansion during the victorian times, accompanied his butler Sebastian Michaelis. And Sebastian... Well, Sebastian is one hell of a butler.
Kuroshitsuji is a very interesting series, and a very dark one too. There's a lot of murders and blood, but also grand balls, bishounen nobles and humour. The mixture between mystery, humour and the victorian darkness makes this series very enjoyable. The plot twist in the second series does something that's very rare for a second series, it actually makes the anime better.
There's a few fillers, but not too many, and they're mainly there to lighten up the mood and develop the characters.

This series is focusing a bit on the female audience, but can be enjoyed by any gender. There's no real romance, but there's no hardcore action either. It's pretty neutral. For the age, I'd say about 12 year olds+

Overall score: 8.5/10
Animation: 8
Sound: 6
Plot: 9
Characters: 7

                           Ao no Exorcist

Rin is no-good kid in comparison to his younger brother Yukio. He's not studying, nor does he have a job, and he keeps getting into fights!
He lives in a monastery with his father Shirou Fujimoto, who works as an exorcist. All of a sudden Rin starts seeing wierd things, and before he knows it he's being attacked by demons and ghouls! Shirou comes to his aid, but it seems that the demons attacking him  aren't the only ones around...
Ao no Exorcist is really a typical shounen, but a good one! The anime has only been out a few months, and it's already the new addition to many "favourites" lists.

The plot is really good as far as I've seen. Most characters have a purpose, and the plot/characters are being revealed at a comfortable pace.
The music and sound effects blend in effortlessly, and the animation is as good as you can expect.
The characters are in some cases a bit cliche, but their feelings and motives are well thought out. You really get drawn in when a character is sad, and you actually laugh at the scenes that are supposed to be funny. I don't know about others, but fun scenes in animes are usually... Not fun?

This anime goes well for anyone of any age or gender, but as it's shounen it's slightly aimed at teenage boys. And this shows really well in Shiemi... *cough, fanservice outfit, cough*

Overall score: 9/10
Animation: 7
Sound: 8
Plot: 7 (so far)
Characters: 9
